Pormenor Reserva Branco 2021 Douro, Portugal
Pormenor Reserva Branco 2021 Douro, Portugal
Taste 😋: Medium bodied, with a little texture and crisp minerality. Spice, toast, smoke, apples and citrus notes make this complex, intense, and perfectly balanced.
Producer: Pedro Coelho
Grape 🍇: Rabigato, Malvasia fina (AKA Boal)
Place 🌎: Douro, Portugal
Story 📖: Pedro has quickly established himself as a force in Portuguese winemaking, crafting wines that balance elegance, freshness, and depth. His journey began in 2015 after two years of experimental vintages he called "drafts to understand if things make sense." His vision was clear: to make wines uncommon in Portugal, emphasizing old vines and high-altitude freshness with a minimalist approach. Coming from a family rooted in the wine industry—his father a cork producer and grandfather an oak-barrel maker—Pedro transitioned from a background in wine business to hands-on winemaking.
This blend spent 10 months on lees in used French oak barrels before resting for two months in stainless steel. It has the structure to evolve beautifully over the next five years, but it’s absolutely irresistible right now.
Pairing 🍽: Scallop crudo with pecans and ponzu sauce
