Philippe Tessier 'Cheverny Rouge' 2023 Loire Valley, France
Philippe Tessier 'Cheverny Rouge' 2023 Loire Valley, France
Style π: Light-bodied, aromatic, and wildly gulpable. Tart red currants, crunchy cherries, and a flicker of wild herbs ride a wave of zippy acidity and gentle earth.Β
Producer: Philippe & Simon Tessier
Grape π: Pinot Noir, Gamay, and Cot (Malbec)
Place π: Cheverny AOC, Loire Valley, France
Story π: The Tessier family has been tending vines in Cheverny for generations. Philippe, a pioneer of organic and biodynamic viticulture in the region, has passed the torch to his son Simon, who now works alongside him, continuing the legacy with the same devotion to purity and terroir.
Grapes are hand-harvested, fermented spontaneously with native yeasts, and aged in neutral barrels. Minimal sulfur is used only at bottling. A true expression of place and vintage, made with as little intervention as possible.
Pairing π½: Roast chicken with crispy skin and herbed lentils.
