While the Niepoort family has been celebrated for their (sweet, fortified) Port wines for over a century, it’s only recently that we find these fresh and bone-dry bottlings from the Estate. Dirk Niepoort is largely to thank for this new approach, not only by his family, but by much of the new generation of winemakers in the Douro. This “Tinto” comes from organic Baga grapes grown closer to the Atlantic, in the Bairrada region. It’s jam packed with fruit but has lots of lift, and that touch of spice you’d expect from a well made Iberian wine grown in lime-rich clay. Amazing table wine to pair with a wide variety of foods.
