Aldo Vajra is a visionary and hugely important winemaker in Piemonte. At just eighteen years old, he achieved the first organic certification in Barolo. Since the 1880s, his family has farmed the highest and most exposed Nebbiolo vines in the village, which have earned the wines a reputation for being more elegant, or, more “Burgundian” in style. The “Albe” is a blend of old vines nebbiolo from three separate parcels, brought up in stainless steel tanks. While 2017 is already drinking beautifully, it will continue to improve for many years to come.
