Fronton de Oro 'Tinto Tradicional' 2022 Canary Islands, Spain

Fronton de Oro 'Tinto Tradicional' 2022 Canary Islands, Spain

Style 😋: Medium-bodied and vibrant. Bright red berries, smoky volcanic minerality, black pepper, and herbs, with silky tannins and a fresh, lingering finish.

Producer: Fronton de Oro

Grape 🍇: Listán Negro

Place 🌎: Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain

Story 📖: Grown in the rugged, high-altitude vineyards of Gran Canaria, Fronton de Oro ‘Tinto Tradicional’ is a perfect example of why Canary Island wines are turning heads. The vines here cling to steep, volcanic slopes, producing wines with electric energy, freshness, and depth. This red is fermented with native yeasts and aged in neutral barrels, allowing the purity of the fruit and the island’s distinctive minerality to shine through. Recently featured in The New York Times, it's a bottle that overdelivers in every way.

Made from estate-grown Listán Negro, the grapes are de-stemmed and cold-soaked for 24 hours before pressing. Fermented in stainless steel, the wine then spends three months aging in mostly used American oak barrels, with just a small portion of new wood, adding a subtle touch of spice without overwhelming its bright, volcanic character.

Pairing 🍽: Grilled chorizo with smoky paprika and crusty bread.
