"First established as a “living museum” in the 1980s the whole project went bankrupt, along with the county, and was essentially abandoned for a few decades. Some growers came in and brought this place back to a more managed productivity – now it exists as a repository of exclusively north eastern* apple varieties. They don't spray at all, choosing instead to rely on heavy pruning and integrated pest management. A beautiful reductive quality on the nose, there's linear acidity and cut with a tannic grip and a whisper of dried, yellow herbs on the finish. Dry! *Roxbury Russet, Sheep's Nose, Newtown Pippin."
