We all know that guy who loves to proclaim, “DRC is NATURAL WINE!” While he’s not wrong (he’s just obnoxious), we would like to stipulate that not all natural wine from Burgundy requires a down payment. Pierre-Henri Rougeot has been making organic, low-intervention, low sulfur wines in and around Meursault since 2010, but his family’s domaine in the village dates back to the 19th century. All of the wines come from single parcels, are hand harvested, and fermented using indigenous yeasts. The Clos des 6 Ouvrees undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrel, but remains fresh and lifted in the glass. Amazingly precise, natural Burgundy.
