Agnes & Rene Mosse 'Chenin' 2023 Loire Valley, France
Style 😋: Dry and vibrant Chenin Blanc with medium body and bright acidity. Aromas of ripe apple, white peach, and wet stone lead to a fresh palate layered with citrus zest, orchard fruit, and subtle floral notes.
Grape 🍇: Chenin Blanc
Place 🌎: Loire Valley, France
Producer 🍷: Agnès and René Mosse
Story 📖: Agnès and René Mosse farm their 17-hectare estate in the Loire with their sons Sylvestre and Joseph. Certified organic since the early 2000s, their vineyards sit on a diverse mix of schist, quartz, flint, clay, and gravel soils. The Mosse family is known for crafting wines that reflect the purest expression of their terroir with minimal intervention. Their dedication to organic farming and natural winemaking has earned them a revered place among Loire producers.
This Chenin Blanc comes from four parcels planted in 2000 within the Anjou appellation but is intentionally bottled as Vin de France. The grapes are slow pressed and vinified in stainless steel with both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. The wine is unfined and unfiltered, with a minimal addition of sulfur at bottling to preserve freshness and vibrancy.
Pairing 🍽: Herb-crusted goat cheese with grilled spring vegetables
