Title
Grape π: Pinot Noir
Style π: Concentration and finesse. Juicy raspberry, wild strawberry, and a hint of pomegranate meet earthy notes of forest floor and a whisper of baking spice. It's vibrant and light on its feet, with silky tannins that make it irresistibly drinkable.
Details π: A precise barrel selection from three distinct, cool climate vineyards within the Sonoma Coast AVA. Organic farming on sandy loam soils. A mix of Pinot clones (like Calera and Pommard) adds complexity. Hand harvested, fermented with 25% whole clusters using native yeasts, and aged 16 months in French oak (only 20% new).
Story π: The story behind the name says it all. The three founders (Webster Marquez, Anthony Filiberti, and David Low) met while working at the iconic Williams Selyem winery. Fellow winemakers saw them constantly scrambling together and said they looked "like a bunch of ants." They loved the metaphor for their collaborative, hard working spirit. Starting with just a single ton of grapes, their mission was simple: use Pinot Noir (the world's most "transparent" grape) to communicate the unique voice of cool climate vineyards. They famously believe in two things: expressing the site and vintage above all else, and making wines that, simply put, taste good.Β
