Calabretta 'Cala Cala' Rosso NV Sicily, Italy

Regular price $21.97
Grape 🍇: Predominantly Nerello Mascalese with small amounts of local red varieties
Style 😋: Medium bodied with grippy tannins and lively acidity. Red cherry, wild strawberry, dried herbs, and a touch of smoke.
Details 📌: Grapes come from organically farmed vineyards on Mount Etna’s volcanic slopes. Fermented with native yeasts and aged in large neutral botti before blending. Bottled unfiltered with minimal sulfur.
Story 📖: Calabretta has been farming the volcanic soils of Etna for over a century, gaining a reputation for long lived, traditionally made Nerello Mascalese. Today Massimiliano Calabretta continues the family legacy with a focus on organic farming and slow, old school winemaking.
The Cala Cala bottling, whose name translates to “drink up,” is their most approachable cuvée, made to be enjoyed casually while still carrying Etna’s unmistakable volcanic character. It reflects the estate’s commitment to authenticity while offering a more everyday option alongside their age worthy crus.
