De Bartoli 'Vignaverde' Grillo 2024 Sicily, Italy

Regular price $26.97
Grape 🍇: Grillo
Style 😋: Light bodied with crisp acidity. Lemon zest, green apple, and fresh herbs with a saline mineral finish.
Details 📌: From 30 year old estate vines in the Samperi contrada of Marsala. Organically farmed on sandy, limestone rich loam soils. 'Vignaverde' is the earliest harvest of De Bartoli’s Grillo, designed for brightness and energy. Grapes are hand harvested, gently pressed, and the must is settled for 48 hours. Fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in stainless steel. Aged 6 months on fine lees in steel before bottling.
Story 📖: The De Bartoli family revived the once proud tradition of Marsala, with Marco de Bartoli leading the charge in the late 1970s. While his father and grandfather produced bulk wine, Marco dedicated himself to restoring Grillo’s reputation as Sicily’s great white grape, both for fortified Marsala and dry expressions. Today, his children Sebastiano, Renato, and Giusippina continue his legacy, farming organically and relying on native yeast fermentations. Their range now includes both iconic Marsala and vibrant dry whites, each bottling a testament to Sicily’s western coast.
